Purpose:
The purposes of the society are to provide education and information to the public to increase understanding of patient safety and error prevention in the Canadian healthcare system.
The Society:
- Provides information, education and resources on patient safety
- Empowers patients to work with their healthcare provider to ensure positive treatment outcomes
- Provides information on the importance of reporting of errors and near misses by healthcare providers and patients, and transparency in care, including disclosure of adverse events
- Promotes a better understanding of the healthcare system by patients and families
